Annabel is an English painter living in southern Spain who responds to nature and its elements. She readily absorbs the colour, light and patterns of her surroundings and has always worked to convey the essence or feeling of a particular place. She paints both directly from the landscape making small watercolours on a textured ground of sand on paper, or in her studio from her imagination, using a mixture of oil, sand and beeswax.
Having trained at Edinburgh College of Art for her BA, and completing her Masters at Chelsea School of Art in London, Annabel was awarded a British Council grant and a Princes Trust award to tour her first solo show from Moscow to London. Following this she won numerous awards to paint and teach abroad and exhibited regularly in London until her move to Andalucia in 1996.
The small watercolours, always made on site, go a long way to express the love she has for the beauty of her surroundings. They are her immediate response to the colour, vibrancy and richness of the landscape.
