Three examples of traditionally framed letters patent. The vellum document is housed in an inner frame with the pendant seals outside, and mounted on velvet-covered board. The skippets containing the seals of the Kings of Arms are presented open with their lids mounted beside them. All of this is enclosed in a larger frame composed of an inner wedge-shaped moulding with glass above and an outer moulding. This double frame has been gessoed, painted with red bole and water gilded with 22 carat gold leaf.
These examples are all approximately 85 x 80 cms.
